Strong vagal tone is the secret to health. Low vagal tone means the brain's communication with the body is diminished.
The vagal nerve activates the branch of the autonomic nervous system called parasympathetic. Digestion, detoxification, and immune functions are only turned on when the body is in a parasympathetic state. Simply put: when stress is on, digestion is off.
We should optimally be in a Vagal State (parasympathetic) 80 percent of the time, but many people struggle to be in this state at any point during their day. This is because stress inhibits the vagal response. There are consequences: the body's essential processes shut down.
We recommend you use Vagal Tone if you have any of the following issues:
Constipation - Peristalsis, the muscle contractions of the intestines that moves the stool, is triggered by the vagal nerve.
Bloating - Bloating is an indication of a stomach acid or enzyme deficiency, and the vagal nerve is responsible for producing adequate acid and enzymes for digestion.
Bile stasis - The vagal nerve triggers production of bile, and signals the gallbladder to release bile into the intestines to digest dietary fats.
Dry mouth - The vagal nerve triggers the production of saliva, which is a crucial element of periodontal health and digestion.
Low libido - The same way the vagal nerve connects to the digestive organs, it also connects to the genital organs to increase blood flow and sensation.
Detoxification issues - Detoxification only happens in a parasympathetic state. Detox processes are triggered by the vagal nerve.
Acid indigestion (GERD) - The vagal nerve signals the sphincter between the stomach and esophagus to close, preventing acid reflux from stomach to esophagus.
SIBO - A key component to healing SIBO is the “Housekeeping Wave” (peristalsis), which is triggered by the vagal nerve.
Chronic infections - To fight pathogens, bacteria, fungi, and viruses, immune processes must be triggered by the vagal nerve.
Feeling disembodied - The mind-body connection is increased with strong vagal tone.
Insomnia - Access to a parasympathetic state allows for relaxation, quieting of brain chatter, and deeper levels of sleep.
Blood sugar dysregulation - A sympathetic state (stress) increases blood sugar and insulin output. Strong vagal tone puts the brakes on this pattern.
Chronic anxiety distorts our perception of danger, trapping us in a fearful and hellish reality. When we look at the world through a lens of anxiety, life feels small.
The part of the brain called the Anterior Cingulate Gyrus (ACG) becomes overactive in chronic anxiety. An overactive ACG causes our negative thoughts to play on re-run.
Anxiety Release™ supports the relaxation of the ACG, so you can release repetitive thoughts and open your awareness to an joyful experience of the world.
We recommend you use Anxiety Release™ if you have any of these anxiety patterns:
PTSD - The brain is in a perpetually active state in response to experiences that resemble past events. Recurrent upsetting thoughts, being easily startled, and constant anxiety arise.
Perfectionism - Obsession about what is not right causes an inability to let go of what is beyond one’s control. It frequently leads to hyper self-criticism.
Conflict avoidance - An attempt to avoid anything that could provoke additional anxiety.
Holding on to anger - Mentally repeating grudges and anger, frequently feeling life is unfair.
Fear of change - Unknown circumstances feel threatening so choosing predictability feels like the answer.
Compulsive behaviors - Persistent and repetitive actions in an attempt to make obsessions go away.
Phobias - A repetitive “thought field” that induces fear and anxiety.
Repetitive negative thoughts - A mental state where one defaults to negativity and everything looks like a problem.
Excessive worry - Fearful that things aren’t going to go the way you think they should, and that things should be a certain way
Chronic inflammation is a 21st-century epidemic, and is caused by poor nutrition, chronic stress, and environmental toxins.
An inflamed brain is also a slow brain. Chronic brain fog and depression often result from brain inflammation.
In order to lower the body’s Inflammation Thermostat, brain inflammation must be addressed. Brain Deflame™ promotes anti-inflammation of the brain and body.
We recommend you use Brain Deflame™ if you have any of the following issues:
Leaky gut - An inflamed gut equals an inflamed brain.
Brain fog - Thinking feels laborious and unclear. You experience slow thinking and response time.
Low Brain Voltage - You have limited endurance for focusing or thinking.
Concussions - Brain damage causes inflamed tissue.
Toxicity - Environmental toxins such as mercury, copper, indoor pollution, chemicals, and pesticides create inflammation.
Smoking, alcohol, and sugar consumption - These all trigger brain inflammation.
Chronic Depression - Leading research indicates inflammation, not low serotonin levels in the brain, is a primary cause of depression.
Chronic infections - Bacterial, viral, or fungal infections causes the brain’s immune system to kill brain cells.
Memory issues - Inflammation destroys neural connections, leading to poor recall.
Hyper-reaction to fragrances - Brain inflammation causes an overreaction to stimulus, including scents.
When we sustain our focus, we enjoy a flow state, enable our creativity, and experience productivity. But the act of focus can feel impossible when a part of the brain called the prefrontal cortex (PFC) is underactive.
An underactive PFC must be gradually strengthened by practicing focus, the same way we strengthen a muscle by working out. We can’t immediately do 100 pushups — instead, we strengthen our muscles by starting with 10 pushups.
As with building a muscle, there is no magic pill to strengthen the PFC. It requires the effort and commitment of a regular workout. Advanced Focus™ supports the strength of the PFC, so your “Focus Workout” feels easier and more effective.
We recommend you use Advanced Focus™ if you have any of the following issues:
Distractibility - You feel addicted to the distractions of your phone or social media.
Inability to sustain attention - You find it challenging to maintain attention in lectures, meetings, or long conversations.
Impulsiveness - You say things before considering consequences.
Contentious behavior - Conflict-seeking can be a way to stimulate the underactive PFC.
Depression - When the PFC is underactive, it is unable to moderate the limbic brain (the emotional center of the brain). That leads to mood-control issues.
Disorganization - Your home, work environment, car, and closet are cluttered. A common sign of an underactive PFC is disorganized, unfinished paperwork.
Inability to finish things - You may start a project and move on to the next before finishing it, and tend to get bored easily.
Trouble listening - You lack the sustained attention required to listen to the person speaking. This leads to a lack of empathy.
Poor executive function - An underactive PFC leads to an Inability to sequence, plan projects, and oversee the details while maintaining a vision of the whole.
Combining Brain Oils
A frequently asked question is, “Can I use more than one Brain Oil™ at once?”
Any combination of our Brain Oils and Brain Essences can be used at once. This is actually the most powerful way to experience the products, as they have a synergistic effect when used together. After applying one oil, you can immediately apply the next one.
